Standard for Affiliation With Teen-Aid

A Washington Not-For-Profit Corporation

Mission Statement

The purpose of Teen-Aid, Inc. is to encourage premarital abstinence as a life-style among teens and to foster virtuous character development. This is accomplished by promoting effective parent-teen communication, increasing fertility awareness and respect for the power to create life, and embracing the standard of parenting within wedlock thereby reducing the many adverse consequences (physical, emotional and social) of premarital sexual activity.

Preamble

We, the Teen-Aid Affiliates, agree to this binding, legal document for the mutual benefit so as to ensure consistency of philosophy, promote a worldwide standard of excellence for delivering programs that advance the natural family and develop cooperation for distribution of quality character and family life education and counseling programs.

This agreement establishes the Standards for Affiliation with Teen-aid, a Washington not-for-profit corporation, incorporated August 10, 1981. This agreement is made and entered by and between Teen-Aid, and the party of the second part (Affiliate), a second, not-for-profit corporation affiliating with Teen-Aid.

Whereas, Teen-Aid has incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Washington on August 10, 1981.

Whereas, it is the intention of the Board of Directors of Teen-Aid that similar groups form another Teen-Aid corporation in other countries, states, and/or localities with the same purpose and guided by the same standards and principles as Teen-Aid and 

Whereas, Teen-Aid, a Washington State not-for-profit corporation, encourages the formation and operation of Affiliates and will permit affiliation for mutual benefit by the sharing of information and elimination of duplication of efforts in organization and operation of a corporation, under certain conditions and

Whereas, the Affiliate desires to affiliate with the benefit of Teen-Aid:

Now, therefore in consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements contained herein and for other good and valuable consideration, it is understood and agreed as follows:

1.     Teen-Aid shall make available to the Affiliate such information, publications, printed matter and educational materials for use in its program. All affiliates must be incorporated not-for-profit.

2.     The parties agree that any and all materials used for educational purposes, counseling and statements of policy shall be subject to review by Teen-Aid prior to use in Affiliates programs. Affiliates shall be bound by recommendations and directives made by Teen-Aid regarding such materials.

3.     Educational or counseling materials developed by the Affiliate must be submitted in draft form for review and possible approval. Approved materials shall be made on an individual basis.

4.     Teen-Aid may conduct an annual review, at its sole discretion, of all activities of Affiliate, including its educational, counseling and operational activities, to assure compliance with the Teen-Aid Charter and By-Laws.

5.     Affiliates must register a Standards for Affiliation form every year and will receive a certificate each year from Teen-Aid headquarters after review of all materials currently being used by the Affiliate. Affiliate local board members must agree and comply with the principles set forth in the Teen-Aid Charter.

6.     Affiliate shall at all times comply with recommendations and directives of Teen-Aid regarding educational arterials and day-to-day operating policy. Affiliate further agrees not to initiate new programs or use materials not previously sanctioned or endorsed by Teen-Aid.

7.     Affiliate is required to use Teen-Aid educational materials as the basis for and as an integral part of any Teen-Aid presentations. All policies of the affiliating agency must be consistent with Teen-Aid principles.

8.     Teen-Aid shall be consulted by the prospective Affiliate prior to the adoption of the name of the new Affiliate. Teen-Aid reserves the rights to disenfranchise an Affiliate for improper use of its logo or noncompliance of Teen-Aid principles as stated in the Charter and By-laws. Affiliates may not engage in lobbying or political activities outside the scope, purpose and principles of Teen-Aid.

9.     Teen-Aid will levy an annual Affiliate filing fee to cover costs of technical assistance, exchange of information, annual convention costs and production of national and international promotional materials.

10.  If Affiliate sells Teen-Aid materials or curricula, it is limited to 100% mark-up of such material. Affiliate must pay 10% of selling price of all other materials sold plus shipping costs to Teen-Aid Headquarters
