Sex Education to Abstinence-plus:
*“Abstinence-plus” means abstinence plus condoms.  It is a new name for “sex education” programs
that are pro-sex and
pro-condom.
Abstain from Using Pro-Sex Language
We must defend our terminology. When media outlets call and ask questions about “abstinence-plus” programs, set the record straight! Ask abstinence plus what? “Abstinence-plus” is the same pro-sex, pro-condom message that has been given to our children and adolescents for over thirty-years. It is this comprehensive sex education – abstinence plus condoms – that has lead to the pandemic of STDs and premarital pregnancy worldwide. Ask the person using “abstinence-plus” to use the proper term - “sex education.” Explain that the general public has never heard the term “Abstinence-plus” and you fear that it may confuse them about the message and intent of their story. Tell them that sex education and abstinence-plus are the exact same, so it is okay to use the traditional, accepted and audience friendly “sex education.”
