By a vote of 85-16, House Bill 88 passed the Virginia House of Delegates

on Tuesday, February 5. It now moves to the Senate for consideration. 

House Bill (HB) 88, would amend state school board policies to prohibit

any teaching, discussion, school sponsored meeting or depiction in

schools of information having to do with "crimes against nature."  In

the state of Virginia, “crimes against nature” include oral and anal

intercourse.  

 

The bill summary states:

Crimes against nature; school board policies. Provides that the family

life education curriculum guidelines shall prohibit presentations,

classroom discussions, and delivery of information regarding crimes

against nature. School boards must develop policies prohibiting

presentations, classroom discussions, school-sponsored assemblies and

student meetings, and delivery of information or materials describing or

depicting crimes against nature. The policies must provide guidelines

for guidance counselors for appropriate discussion of such crimes when

approached by students seeking counseling or guidance as a potential

victim of these crimes, which include incest and sodomy.
