Me, My World, My Future
Junior High Family Life Education: Ties together the facets of a healthy
lifestyle for the junior high student. From valuing self to making and
following through on decisions, teens learn to see themselves as capable of avoiding
negative consequences and achieving positive results in life.
Now in its third edition, Me, My World, My Future is better
than ever! Based on five years of federal research, the program targets those
issues most important with early teens: friendship and relationship building
skills, peer refusal skills, decision-making, and a goal-oriented rationale for
premarital abstinence. In a
contemporary and dynamic format, this edition includes five additional chapters
with added activities and teacher notes on all of the others.
Some Highlights
 Teacher Fact sheets on teenage pregnancy,
alcohol and teenage sexual activity, family trends, and more.
Brand new chapters, “Right to Say No” and
“Right to Be Free,” present abstinence in an innovative and highly motivating
manner.

Each lesson involves parents through
time-tested “Parent Grams” which summarize the information presented and

Easy to Teach Lessons
The 3-6 week course is subdivided into 18 integrated modules.
To reinforce skills, Me, My World, My Future can be used for 3 years by
utilizing different teaching methods and materials. Each lesson includes a
detailed teaching strategy, an outline, and bibliography. The teacher's manual

through eleventh grades reveals that

and girls in all four grades are likely to stay abstinent if they know their
mothers strongly disapprove of premarital sex.

Boys
and girls in eighth and ninth grades are likely to stay abstinent if they have
warm, healthy relationships with their mothers. This was also true of boys in
the 10th and 11th grades.

Girls in the eighth and ninth grades are likely to avoid sex if their mothers
talk regularly with their friends' parents.
For
those who are not communicating, however, the news is not so good. Half of the
moms whose kids are sexually active were unaware of that fact, and large numbers
of kids whose moms disapprove of premarital sexual activity didn't know it. (Washington
