Goals for Each State*

Washington

Note this is not a mistake. WA has education goals and pregnancy prevention goals fit in.

1.        Read with comprehension, write with skill, and communicate effectively and responsibly in a variety of ways and settings.

2.        Know and apply the core concepts and principles of mathematics; social, physical, and life sciences; civics and history; geography; arts; and health and fitness.

3.        Think analytically, logically and creatively, and integrate experiences and knowledge to form reasoned judgments and solve problems.

4.        Understand the importance of work, and how effort, performance, and decisions directly affect future career and educational opportunities.

California

Takes no money for abstinence from the federal government maybe because the goal is pregnancy prevention only.

The goal of the Partnership for Responsible Parenting (PRP) is to inspire Californians to help break the cycle of teen pregnancy and address the issues of unwed pregnancy, statutory rape and absent fathers.

Major Goals:

1.        Reduce the number of teenage and unwed pregnancies;

2.        Reduce the number of children growing up in homes without fathers as a result of these pregnancies; and,

3.        Promote responsible parenting and the involvement of the father in the economic, social, and emotional support of his children.

Idaho

The mission of the Idaho Governor's Council on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention is to delay the onset of sexual activity by increasing the number of teens choosing abstinence.
